Young Organist Entertains
David Bryson, an 11 year-old chorister at St John’s College School in Cambridge, decided he wanted to be an organist when he was two, started the piano at four and organ lessons followed at six!
As a student member of the Royal College of Organists he has already played many iconic instruments including St Paul’s Cathedral, Westminster Abbey, Westminster Cathedral, Llandaff Cathedral, Birmingham Town Hall, New College Oxford, All Souls Langham Place and St Mary Radcliffe, Bristol.
The first time he was allowed to play a church organ was when he was three and on holiday in Norfolk. The churchwarden of St Michael and All Angels, Sidestrand, handed him the key to the organ and let him experiment. He has never looked back. To date he has played 150 other organs including the cathedrals of Lichfield, Winchester, Hereford, Worcester, and, of course, St John’s College, Cambridge.
He also finds time to enjoy gardening, model railways, remote controlled helicopters, conversation and reading!
