Farewell Tony Duncan, Fondly Remembered by CSA
Tony Duncan, Former Head of King’s Ely Junior School, died on 30th October after a long and valiant battle with cancer.
Tony joined King’s Ely in January 2000; he will be remembered as a supportive and encouraging colleague and for the warmth and gentleness of his humanity. He was relentlessly child-centred and loved nothing more than spending time with his pupils, supporting them in all of their endeavours. During his time as head, Tony was instrumental in the expansion of King’s Ely Junior and the opening of the new Year 7/8 block in 2003. Tony had a genuine enthusiasm for his work, and most importantly for children, that endeared him to all who were privileged to work with him. After his retirement, Tony settled with his wife Carol in Australia, where they had spent happy years at the start of their respective careers. However, distance was no hindrance to Tony’s characteristic determination to keep in touch with the school and with many former colleagues and pupils. He will be sorely missed.
There will be a memorial service for Tony on 27th November at 2pm in Ely Cathedral.
