Family with trio of choristers!
For the first time in a decade, a trio of choristers from the same family is singing together in Wells Cathedral as part of the Wells Cathedral Choir. Siblings Cecilia, aged 14; Daniel, aged 11; and now Estella Fawden, aged 9, are all choristers at Wells Cathedral, and have the opportunity to sing with each other when the girl and boy choristers perform jointly in Cathedral services.
Estella joins the team
Cecilia and Daniel are both now in their fourth year as Cathedral choristers, having joined Wells Cathedral School and the Choir in Years 6 and 4, respectively. Estella has followed the same path as her older sister and brother, starting in the Choir last September, and joining Year 4 at the school.
All three Fawden siblings hail from Somerset, and have enjoyed singing since a young age. They have all attended the annual Be a Chorister for a Day event held at Wells Cathedral each October and enjoyed the day so much that they applied to audition for the Choir following the event.
Not all about singing though
Cecilia, Daniel, and Estella take part a range of activities, from hockey, netball, and rugby to drama and creative arts at Wells Cathedral School, as well as enjoying their academic lessons at school and singing in the Cathedral, including concerts, broadcasts, recordings, and all the special services at Christmas time and Easter.
Cecilia is in her final year as a girl chorister, and Daniel has two more years to go with the boys’ choir. Estella is particularly delighted to be singing alongside her elder sister amongst the girl choristers, and is enjoying her first experience of choristership as a probationer. So far she most enjoys singing the hymn ‘Dear Lord and Father of Mankind’, although her repertoire is extending each week!
