New Head for St George’s Windsor Appointment

Congratulations to William Goldsmith who has been appointed Head Master of St George’s School, Windsor Castle. He is currently Head of St Leonards Junior School, St Andrews and will succeed Interim Head Roger Jones in January 2019.

William is very familiar with the choral world. He was a music scholar and Head Chorister at Radley College before reading Music and History at Durham University. He was Director of Music at St Paul’s Cathedral School before moving to Scotland.

He says: “I am very excited about leading St George’s School over the coming years and very much look forward to getting to know the pupils, parents and staff of this exceptional community. My wife, Catherine, will also become fully involved in the school. She and I were very taken by the family atmosphere at the school, the enthusiasm of the children and outstanding relationships between the staff and the pupils.”

Making the announcement, the Reverend Canon Dr Hueston Finlay, Chair of Governors said: “Following a rigorous selection process, I am delighted to announce that our School Council was unanimous in its decision to appoint William. We have been impressed by his achievements to date and by the innovative ideas he will bring to underpin and develop our school’s academic, pastoral, musical and sporting excellence. We are convinced his leadership skills will enable him to inspire pupils and staff alike and take St George’s confidently into the future.”

Roger Jones adds: “I’m delighted William has agreed to take over the reins at St George’s. I’ll be working with him in the intervening months to ensure a smooth transition and to continue to build on our impressive achievements across the curriculum, our high standards in choral and instrumental music and our sporting success on the playing fields and in the swimming pool.”
