The Pilgrims’ School appoints new Head
Mr Tim Butcher has been announced as the next Head of The Pilgrims’ School. Tim is currently Head of the Prep School and Deputy Head at Hallfield School Trust in Edgbaston. He talks with pride of already having a real love for the Pilgrims’ community, having both attended Pilgrims’ as a boy, (becoming Head Quirister and a 1st team player across all sports), and then returning to teach at the School as Head of History early in his career.
He will take up his new post in September 2023.
Tim is a graduate of the University of Warwick and completed his teacher training at the University of York. He has gained both choir school and leadership experience throughout his career, having been Head of History and Assistant Housemaster at Pilgrims’, then Head of Boarding at The Chorister School, Durham before next becoming Deputy Head at Winchester House School and then Head of Perrott Hill School, Somerset.
Of his appointment, Tim said: “It is an enormous honour to be appointed to lead a community I already have a deep connection to and abiding affection for. My time at Pilgrims’ as a boy was foundational for me. It is unique and quite simply one of the finest prep schools in the country. I am greatly looking forward to returning, and bringing all that I can to its continued success as we look to the future with conviction and confidence.”
Chair of Governors, Ian Power, said: “The Governors have every confidence that Tim will provide forward-thinking leadership for the School and quickly build deep and effective relationships with Pilgrims’ pupils, staff and parents, as well as continue to develop Pilgrims’ wider relationships within the local community, the city and further afield.”
